Sending goods from Israel to the United States begins with a clear shipment brief. The steps differ for a courier parcel, commercial air freight and ocean freight, but each requires the parties, cargo and service scope to be agreed before dispatch.
1. Define the shipment and responsible parties
Describe the goods and their intended use, the sender and recipient, collection and final delivery addresses, and the ready and required dates. Identify the US importer or receiving party and the professional support arranged at destination. A freight enquiry does not by itself establish US import representation.
2. Confirm packing and measurements
Provide the number of pieces, external packed dimensions, gross weight and value. Declare batteries, fragile goods, oversized pieces or other restrictions early. Confirm who packs, loads and receives the goods and whether the final packed measurements are available. For technology products, see the Israel-to-USA high-tech export checklist for product details, responsible parties and export-control questions that may need specialist review.
3. Compare transport and local scope
Ask which courier, air or sea service can be considered for the cargo and route. Clarify collection, export documents, transport, arrival handling, import coordination and final delivery. Compare a complete door-to-door proposal with another complete proposal, rather than comparing only the freight leg.
4. Prepare documents before booking
Share the commercial invoice or value declaration, packing list and any product information already available. The exact documents and US import requirements depend on the goods and the parties involved. Resolve open questions with the responsible providers before shipment, rather than assuming a standard declaration covers every case.
5. Confirm timing, charges and cover
Ask where the quoted timeline starts and ends, what remains subject to carrier confirmation, and how changes will be reported. Our shipping-time guide separates preparation, carrier transit and destination delivery. Check estimates, exclusions, destination charges, taxes and who will pay them. Discuss cargo insurance terms and exclusions separately; transport booking does not automatically establish cover.
Questions before shipping from Israel to the USA
Can I request a quote before the goods are packed?
Yes. Mark provisional dimensions, weight and dates, and ask what must be confirmed for a final booking.
Is air freight always the best choice for a deadline?
Check the entire journey, including preparation and destination work. A faster transport leg does not settle customs, handling or final delivery.
Does the freight quote include US import charges?
Only if the written quote expressly defines those charges and responsibilities. Identify the importer and destination scope before dispatch.
