There is no useful fixed price for every shipment from Tel Aviv to the USA. The starting point is the cargo, the collection and delivery locations, the dates and the work included. Use the checklist below to request a quotation that matches the actual movement.
Prepare the shipment brief
- Describe the goods, their intended use and whether they are new, used or being returned.
- List the package count, external packed dimensions and gross weight. Identify estimated figures and any stacking or handling restrictions.
- Provide the collection location in Israel and the receiving address and postal code in the USA.
- State the expected ready date and the required delivery window.
- Identify the sender, recipient and which services have already been arranged.
If the cargo is not packed yet, say so. Final packing can change the dimensions, weight and handling requirements used for the quotation.
Separate the transport service from the full local scope
Ask which available courier, air freight or sea freight service is being quoted and what the booking covers. The service should be assessed against the cargo and required dates rather than a generic delivery-time promise.
Clarify whether collection, packing, export handling, transport, arrival handling, customs coordination and final delivery are included. Confirm the responsible parties for the USA side before dispatch. A freight price alone does not establish those arrangements.
Identify charges that need separate confirmation
Ask for exclusions and estimates to be stated explicitly. Depending on the shipment, these may concern destination handling, import charges, storage, delivery access, special handling or insurance requirements. Identify who approves additional work and who is expected to pay each charge.
For insurance, discuss the cargo value, packing, route, available terms and exclusions before the goods move. Do not assume that a freight booking includes cargo insurance.
Compare proposals on the same basis
Send the same shipment brief to each provider. Check the route, service boundaries, measurement basis, quotation validity, receiving arrangements and unresolved requirements. Ask whether the quoted timing is an estimate and what still needs confirmation before booking.
If a proposal covers only part of the journey, identify the remaining tasks and obtain the corresponding costs before treating the amount as a complete shipment budget.
For the wider Israel-to-USA shipping process, see our export planning guide. If the cargo is moving in the opposite direction, use the USA-to-Israel cost checklist so the destination charges and import responsibilities are assessed for the correct country.
Questions before requesting a USA quotation
Can I get an initial estimate before the cargo is ready?
Send the available details and mark uncertain measurements or dates. Ask what must be confirmed before the estimate can become an agreed booking.
Can I compare courier, air freight and sea freight?
Ask which services are available for your cargo and route, and compare their full scope and timing assumptions. A quote for one service is not automatically comparable with a quote that covers different local tasks.
Does a transport quotation settle the USA import responsibilities?
No. Identify the responsible recipient, importer and relevant professional support separately. Check the requirements for the goods and the agreed destination scope before dispatch.
